"It's when we open our eyes to global practices that we either appreciate or learn how to further improve ours.", Dean Jenelyn Magpatoc expressed during the cross-border academic cooperation and cultural immersion of the School of International Hospitality and Tourism Management in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last November 19-23, 2022. The program with the theme, Advancing UBSIHTM’s Global Connections: The Malaysia Experience, is a springboard in strengthening and attesting the alignment of the school and the university programs to global standards.
Beyond immersing themselves in the culture of Malaysia and visiting the famous tourist attractions that the country takes pride in, the program included the International Conference themed Sustainable Practices: Malaysia's Support to SDGs which provided a clear direction on how UB and SIHTM as an organization could help in the realization and attainment of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The program leader and senior lecturer of Malaysia HELP University, Ms. Rajesvare K D Rada, delivered a comprehensive and insightful lecture during the said conference.
Aligned with the University of Baguio's quest for internationalization, the successfully concluded Cross Border Academic Cooperation with Universiti Teknologi Mara was participated in by more than a hundred SIHTM students, faculty, and staff. The faculty and staff were Ms. Lauren Kaye Navarro, Mr. John Frank Sabado, Mr. Robenson Dasalla, Ms. Ma. Victoria Natividad, Ms. Jennifer Sese, Ms. Joanna Marie Victorio, and Ms. Pamela Eileen Mae Consul. They were joined by the University of Baguio's Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Janice Kaylyn K. Lonogan, Linkages Director, Ms. Melanie Rulla-Saro, and SIHTM Dean, Ms. Jenelyn Mangangey-Magpatoc.
The program is another milestone in realizing the School of IHTM’s goals towards internationalization.
