The recent intramural sports event, Phase 2 at the University of Baguio, showcased not only the athletic prowess of SIHTM students, which defines the community. This year, the School of International and Hospitality and Tourism Management (SIHTM) proudly demonstrated its status as the "Home of the Champions" by claiming gold titles in both the men's and women's volleyball tournaments. The most anticipated segment of the intramurals was the volleyball matches, gaining attention from all the students, faculty, management, and alumni. Throughout the duration of the tournament, the atmosphere was electric, with students shouting about their chosen teams. The SIHTM's men's and women's volleyball teams were composed of dedicated players who trained hard and rigorously in preparation for the awaited matches, and these sacrifices paid off.

In the semi-finals, the women's team already dominated against the School of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts (STELA) and made it as a way to entice the audience. After securing their spot in the Finals and winning Game 1, it was not easy for them as they were having a hard time coordinating with each other during Game 2 - Championship against the School of Nursing (SON) Volleyball Team. But a champion will always be a champion as they grabbed the gold in their comeback. Even though both departments started strong, the SIHTM team returned to their champion momentum after leaving SON a 3-1 that shambles with a decisive score of 25-23, 25-22, 21-25, 25-14 last March 16, 2024. Their way of communicating effectively inside the court was evident, as the players ran through the game with finesse and confidence. The championship match kept every spectator focused on the game, culminating in a well-deserved victory that highlighted their burning dedication and coordination.

Similarly, the SIHTM men's volleyball team demonstrated their skills, athleticism, and resilience throughout their matches as they first swept SBAA (School of Business Administration and Accountancy) on their way to the finals. Regardless of facing various tough competitions against SEA (School of Engineering and Architecture) throughout the championship, they have maintained their focus and determination, even though they had a rough match with a score of 25-22, 25-18, and 25-23. Luckily, as each player has a significant role that contributed to mastering their teamwork, they also analyzed strategic attacks and defensive maneuvers, which brought them to spike the game and smash the gold.

Moreover, the champions' loud cheers also echoed throughout the UB Cardinals' gym, creating an unforgettable memory and atmosphere of camaraderie, teamwork, and pride. The success of both teams was celebrated with an awarding ceremony, where the champions were honored for the teams' outstanding performances throughout the matches. The pride of the SIHTM community was at the top as the teams received their trophies, symbolizing their hard work and dedication. This victory not only solidified their reputation as champions in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry but also in athletics. The SIHTM has consistently proved to everyone that excellence is not limited only to the 4 corners of the room; individuals can also excel in various aspects of life. As the volleyball champions of this year's intramurals, the SIHTM has again proved that it is truly the home of the champions, may it be the men's category or the women's category.
