‘Andito tayo para sa isa't isa’ – A beautiful reminder of the true spirit of Christmas!

Updated: Aug 21, 2023

The Christmas Season is the most cherished Filipino tradition that brings not only Filipinos but hundreds of communities around the world together that serves as a beautiful reminder of the true spirit of Christmas. In the School of International Hospitality and Tourism Management (SIHTM), to celebrate togetherness during the season is the annual Lighting of Christmas Tree.

The Lighting of the Christmas Tree, held last November 17, 2022, at the SIHTM Dean’s Office façade, had the theme 'Andito tayo para sa isa't isa' (We are here for each other). The event marked the beginning of the holiday season, filling the school premises with joy and warmth emanating from the SIHTM students and the mentors of the champions led by Dean Jenelyn Mangangey-Magpatoc and the event chair, Dr. Alvin Morales.

The SIHTM Family gathered around the grand Christmas tree to celebrate the joyful celebration of togetherness, love, and compassion with a sense of excitement and wonder as they all witnessed the transformation of a simple tree into a dazzling centerpiece decorated with twinkling lights in blue hues and glittering white and blue ornaments. SIHTM students, Edith Jane Chloe Elegado and Aaron Seth Samala hosted the event with enthusiasm while the Events Management class beautifully decorated the Dean’s Office façade. The SIHTM Special Performing Arts prepared various intermissions and performances that genuinely infused the school with a festive spirit and sparked enthusiasm for the impending Christmas Season.

Christmas celebrations wouldn't be complete without indulging in sumptuous foods that truly sets the festive mood. This year, under the guidance and effort of Ma'am Joy Bulatao Limpin and Chef Racquel Cayat Tacwigan, a delightful grazing table was prepared. It featured an array of delicious treats that delighted both young and old alike. From Christmas-themed cookies to delectable desserts, every item on the table was carefully designed to ensure a memorable Christmas Tree Lighting celebration experience for all.

The act of lighting the Christmas tree symbolizes hope and renewal. It represents the power of unity in brightening our lives, similar to how all the SIHTM Family has shown unity and togetherness reminding us of the true spirit of Christmas. Indeed, we are not alone in this world - 'andito tayo para sa isa’t isa' to lean on during both joyful celebrations and challenging times.
