April 26, 2023 — Loud cheers and colorful balloons, after years of lockdown, filled once again the University of Baguio Gym as the candidates confidently walked on the stage to showcase their charismatic smiles and poses for the face-to-face comeback of the Search for Mister and Miss School of International Hospitality and Tourism Management (SIHTM). Each candidate was welcomed with claps, waving of banners and balloons, and uplifting yells from the crowd while the joy and pride of representing their respective sections were very evident in the eyes of each candidate as they aim for the coveted titles.
Prior to the Final Pageant was the Pre-pageant held last April 24 at the Centennial Hall, University of Baguio. After the ten pairs of candidates were selected through the tough screening process last April 14, they finally had the chance to showcase their talents to the board of judges - Mr. John Wilson Carillo, Mr. Chris Evan Amansec, and Ms. Mary Joy Limpin, during the Pre-pageant.
During the Final Pageant, the candidates geared up for the different competition categories and one of which was the "Retro Attire" Competition where each candidate wore their best attire to fit the criteria given. They paraded their old-fashioned clothes and posed with elegance following the event’s theme — Going back to the 80's. Another category was the "Dream Job Attire” where the candidates wore and paraded their dream job outfits.
Also, as ambassadors of the School, the candidates walked the stage wearing their complete corporate uniform where other than poise and projection, the candidates had to present how the SIHTM uniform should be worn following the school's grooming standards and uniform policy.
The candidates also prepared their advocacy campaign videos where they presented the initiatives that they support. It was a form of information-seeking with intentions for change or promoting social and political progress, which the candidates strongly presented. Each advocacy was full of knowledge and passion, inspiring the audiences to do better as a human being. It was such a beautiful, and at the same time, an eye-opening sight watching the candidates' advocacy campaigns.
And finally, was the most awaited, Question and Answer portion where the candidates were given situational questions about the hospitality and tourism industry. The candidates showed their wit and eloquence as they bravely answered the questions.
Selecting SIHTM's new ambassadors has been tough for the judges - Mr. John Wilson Carillo, Mr. Robert Toledo, Mr. James Madriaga, Ms. Zsan Kathreen Anne Botiwey-Epie, and Ms. Jamie Santos.
The pageant successfully concluded with Marvin Carl Castro and Liezel Ann Vistada declared as the Mister and Miss SIHTM 2023 respectively.
The Mister and Miss SIHTM 2023 was spearheaded by the main organizing committee, the MICE Class of Dr. Alvin T. Morales.
