FAMERS recognizes SIHTM mentor as one of UB’s Top Performers in the Teaching Category

Updated: Aug 20, 2023

TOP PERFORMER AWARD — Shining all the way from the Home of the Champions, the School of IHTM’s very own Ms. Rachel Grace A. Liclican has once again proved how champions play their ‘A’ games excellent-wise as she humbly accepted the “Top Performer Award: Teaching Category”, a prestigious University of Baguio recognition for its employees who have had outstanding performances and valuable contributions toward the realization of the school’s Mission and Vision.

Held last August 6, 2022, at CAP-John Hay Trade and Cultural Center, Ms. Rachel has been part (awardee) of the FAMERS, which stands for Faculty Alumni Management Employees Retirees and Students — a formal event that is one of the main highlights of the UB's foundation celebration, serving as a venue for socialization and recognition of its employees’ performance and length of service.

“Probably it's the opportunity to be part of students' journey towards their dream careers,” she beautifully stated when asked what is her inspiration in teaching. Her unparalleled way of mentoring champions paved the way for her students and co-employees to notice her heartfelt dedication to teaching, leading her to be considered an outstanding professor not just in the School of IHTM, but also university-wide.

“I am also inspired by my mentors who were instrumental in honing me into who I am today and will become someday,” she added delightfully. Applying the law of reciprocation, Ms. Rachel always assures her to be an instrument of inspiration to her students the way her mentors motivated her. Through incorporating utmost competence and excellence, she is also able to hone her students into becoming real champions.

Despite being one of the youngest instructors, Ms. Rachel never let her age be a hindrance to high-level performance. Her award per se already speaks volumes that excellence is of no age — rather, it’s a matter of putting your heart into whatever you do because it is when you love what you do that magic starts.

The award-winning instructor has been continuously inspiring the UB-SIHTM students for 5 years now. With her evident competence, professionalism, and dedication coated with friendly approaches, Ms. Rachel is an all-in-one instructor that every student needs. She is indeed an epitome of a champion, an image of perfection — and it is never difficult to see why!
