Everyone knows the UBian motto, “It’s all up here” — embodied particularly through the dedication of both mentors and students alike. However, being a UBian is not only about being academically excellent, but it is also about stepping out of one’s comfort zone and being active in various competitions. In line with such, the University of Baguio aims to provide its students with an avenue to forge the best version of themselves, therefore, after 3 long-awaited years, the search for Mister and Miss University of Baguio has finally returned. This highly expected event promotes camaraderie through friendly competition between the different departments, in categories such as talent, beauty, and intellect.
The Home of the Champions’ representatives, Jethro Arvin Gray, 3rd-year BSHM-IHBO, and Fraulein Mostoles, 4th-year BSTM-IT student, shined on the said pageant. With the help of the ever-dedicated and supportive SIHTM Dean Ms. Jenelyn Mangangey Magpatoc, as well as the brilliant mentors of the Champions, Mr. Alvin Morales, Mr. Chris Evan Amansec, and Ms. Joan Florague, the representatives rose to the top, both taking home the titles Mister and Miss UB First Runner-Up. In addition, Gray was hailed as Mr. Congeniality, Mr. Social Media, and Mr. Texter’s Choice. The preparation period was done months before the actual competition for both the pre-pageant which was held on March 22, 2023, at the Baguio Country Club Cordillera Convention Hall, followed by the coronation night at the University of Baguio Cardinals Gymnasium last April 13, 2023. The SIHTM family takes pride in the school’s candidates as they have brought honor to the Home of the Champions with their love and dedication emanating a true champion’s heart. The School hopes for more opportunities to showcase the excellence of its students, not only within the institution’s premises but also in other festivities beyond its walls.
